Somatic Coaching

When we face a threat, our nervous system enters one of the four states – freeze, fight, flight or fawn. How we respond to a seemingly similar situation creates a groove in our nervous system. Same emotions + same beliefs result in a predictable action. We then go on an auto-drive to have the same response every time the threat shows up. To overcome or change the response, a tremendous amount of willpower and energy is required, and much often give up.

This is why developing new habits that serve us despite strategy fail to work. Our bodies and nervous systems are used to older patterns that are overwhelmingly difficult to change just by strategizing. Our physical, emotional and mental facets equally contribute to a predicted outcome that the body is used to. It is said that only 2% of people can change their behaviours that help them achieve their goals. And it is also the reason traditional coaching fails – because it is knowledge based and does not help shift emotions or mindset.

This is where somatic coaching is practical and gives us results that traditional coaching fails to give. The key element is being in a safe, non-judgmental container, which is usually with another human coach. We can then explore and build awareness of the root causes across the physical, emotional, mindset layers and also resolve them successfully. Generation after generation, we’ve accumulated beliefs that no longer serve us. The more we let go of patterns that are not working for us, naturally access what we truly desire, and we can then align with our core desires. Our nervous system expands as it is no longer in resistance, and thus we have more energy to pursue our dreams. This is when growth happens, and shows up in all areas – happiness, wealth, relationships and health.
